AtoZ the USA

AtoZ the USA offers Feature articles for every US state and territory, as well as articles about the United States as a country and video dictionaries about US geography. This resource is ideal for patrons looking to learn about a state’s history, government, geography, culture and more! You will need your Flint Public Library card to access this resource.

The Boston Globe (1980 – present)

This database allows patrons to search the full text of The Boston Globe published from 1980 to the present. Each issue is indexed and patrons have access to top news stories as well as the information contained on the various sections of the paper.

Brittanica Library

A comprehensive online encyclopedia with a dictionary, thesaurus, atlas, and more. This database allows patrons to access articles, educational images and videos, and biographies based on their learning level. Patrons also have access to research tools and materials, such as step-by-step research guides and how-tos on creating book reports, presentations, papers, and reports.

Brittanica Moderna

A comprehensive online encyclopedia in Spanish with a dictionary, thesauras, atlas, and more. This database allows patrons to access articles, educational images and videos, and biographies.

Coronavirus Research Database

Including coverage of the COVID-19 outbreak, this database curates openly available content related to coronaviruses. It includes thousands of open-access articles from the world’s leading publishers as well as current research from pre-print repositories such as arXiv and will continue to grow and evolve as more is learned about the pandemic.

Gale Academic OneFile

Access hundreds of thousands of peer-reviewed scholarly articles across all academic disciplines, such as criminal justice, environmental science, history, and more.

Gale in Context: Environmental Studies

Access scholarly articles on a variety of environmental studies issues, such as earth systems, energy, land and water use, pollution, and much more.

Gale Interactive: Science

With Gale Interactive, science comes to life as you zoom, rotate, and explore interactive 3D models related to a wide variety of subjects, including biology, earth science, chemistry, anatomy and more.

Gale LegalForms (Massachusetts)

This database provides access to the Massachusetts Legal Forms Library. Search for a specific form or browse by category. Main categories include forms on adoption, landlord tenant, small business, family law, and more.

Global Road Warrior

Global Road Warrior is the world’s largest and most comprehensive database of country information, ideal for patrons looking to learn about a country’s culture, history, language, travel necessities, and more. You will need your Flint Public Library card number to access this resource.

The New York Times (1985 – present)

This database allows patrons to search the full text of The New York Times published from 1985 to the present. 

ProQuest Publicly Available Content Database

Designed to complement other databases and collections, this database brings together or links to full text for publicly available scholarly content from a number of different sources from around the world. It includes content from major subject repositories such as arXiv as well as open access journals. Content includes journal articles, pre-prints, books, conference papers and reports.

ProQuest Science Database

This database is a definitive resource for students studying both the applied and general sciences. With coverage dating back to 1986, ProQuest Science Journals features over 1030 titles, with more than 760 available in full text. Search over 2.7M records, dating back to the mid 1980s.

U.S. Newsstream

U.S. Newsstream enables users to search the most recent premium U.S. news content, as well as archives which stretch back into the 1980s featuring newspapers, newswires, blogs, and news sites in active full-text format. This database includes access to the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and The Wall Street Journal.

American Ancestors by New England Historic Genealogical Society

American Ancestors is a vast resource of genealogical information, including marriage records, death records, journals and periodicals, military records, immigration records, and more.

Patrons may access reference copies of the New England Historical and Genealogical Register at the Flint Public Library. Paid for with RM funds.

Early Vital Records of Massachusetts

This website maintains digital copies of some of the early vital records (1600-1850) for various towns in Massachusetts, including Middleton.

A Guide to Middleton’s History

View a brief pamphlet outlining Middleton’s history and historic buildings. This pamphlet was created in 1975 by the Flint Library’s Bi-Centennial Committee and updated in 2018 by the Flint Public Library’s Assistant Director, Loretta Johnson.
