The Illustrations of John O’Connor

December 1st – December 31st

Artist Statement:

I am John O’Connor, and I am an enthusiastic amateur artist. Growing up, I wanted to draw comic books or paint fantasy art. I had a few fits and starts studying art in college, but I eventually dropped my art ambitions and switched to computer science. However, after a decade-long hiatus from art, I started drawing again recently.

I like to experiment with different illustration styles. I do almost all of my artwork digitally. I tend to draw from imagination, but I occasionally use references or models when trying to go for a more realistic look. I have also started dabbling with caricatures.

My artist goals are modest. I simply want to draw a little better than I did yesterday. I enjoy drawing with my children, and they are a continuous source of inspiration.

About the Artist:

John grew up in Malden, Massachusetts. He graduated from UMass Lowell and currently works as a software engineer. He moved to Middleton 10 years ago, where he lives with his wife, two children, and a dog who likes to bark. His two children are very much into dinosaurs. You can see more of his art on Instagram by clicking here.
